(I’m going to call him Tir for the sake of my fingers)
Tir is often credited as “the father of modern yoga.” I find him a fascinating character as he completed fantastic physical feats including stopping his heartbeat and is even credited with creating vinyasa, which is the combination of movement and breath. He also had a pretty unique look:
One thing that I really found interesting about Tir is that he had multiple degrees in a vast array of fields. He had degrees in divinity, philology, music, logic and philosophy. With all of his knowledge and wisdom, he considered yoga to be India’s greatest gift to the world.
Yoga being an entire country’s greatest gift is a pretty good reason to not skip class this week. If that’s not enough of an incentive for you, the guy lived to be 100! Being a yogi sure has its benefits.
