I’m a big fan of yoga but it’s not my only interest! I am a woman of many hobbies and one of those hobbies is reading. I am currently in two book clubs (because I’m bad at saying no to things) and I read a heck of a lot. As there are books on so many subjects I’ve inevitably come across some great books on yoga. Here are my suggestions:
Light on Yoga by B.K.S. Iyengar – This wonderful book is a great overview of not only yoga practice but also the philosophy behind it. It’s a book which provides all of the information and illustrations you’ll need for yoga poses. Plus out of over 470 reviews it’s got a 4.4 out of 5 star rating.
The Goddess Pose: The Audacious Life of Indra Devi, the Woman Who Helped Bring Yoga to the West by Michelle Goldberg – This book lives up to it’s title. It’s about a Russian woman named Indra who practiced yoga at a time where it was primarily only popular in India. She helped to bring yoga to the rest of the world. 4 out of 5 stars with nearly 100 Amazon reviews.
The Yoga Bible: A Definitive Guide to Yoga by Christina Brown – This is another great yoga guide that would serve as a great coffee table book, a reference for your practice or even as a gift for that yogi in your life. It is also a really great book for any type of yogi. Weather you’re a beginner or a an expert, you can’t go wrong with this one. 4.6 stars out of 5 with over 400 reviews!
